Those Good Ol' Boys
By

Verse 1:
When I was a long haired college jerk
I knew I was much too cool for work
So I decided to share my enlightenment with the world

A friend and I bought a Volkswagen Van
And we set out to explore the land
South of that Mason Dixon line

Verse 2:
We drove by hamlets near and far
Until we spied a friendly looking bar
And we stopped to visit awhile with the natives

As we opened the door forty eyes
Gaped at us in stunned surprise
And someone yelled, it's the Rolling Stones, let's kick their ass

Chorus:
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
As we ran I heard them swear
They're gonna cut off all our hair
And I don't think that's all they were thinking about cutting off

Verse 3:
As we made our Bonaparte's retreat
They poured from the bar out into the street
Waving their knives and throwing beer cans

Just when I thought they were catching up
A police car appeared and squealed to a stop
It was the first time in my life I was ever happy to see the cops

Verse 4:
The lawmen took us back to our van
They said, get out of town, girls, as fast as you can
And you know they didn't have to tell us twice

Chorus:
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
As we ran I heard them swear
They're gonna cut off all our hair
And I don't think that's all they were thinking about cutting off

Verse 5:
Today it looks like things have changed
But in many ways they remain the same
I think some French philosopher said that,
maybe it was Brigitte Bardot

Cause now a lot of those southern dudes
Let their hair grow long and rude
And some even wear those scraggly beards like the freaks in the 60's

Verse 6:
While most of the boys up North instead
Have short or no hair on their head
Who would have believed that the crew cut could make a comeback?

It's quite absurd I must declare
That everything comes down to hair
If God has made us all bald the world would be a much friendlier place

Chorus:
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
As we ran I heard them swear
They're gonna cut off all our hair
Those good old boys they weren't so good to me
